“A burglary suspect was shot and killed Saturday night during a confrontation with a store employee at Shermans Dale Beer & Beverage, state police at Newport said. Perry County Coroner Michael Shalonis said he pronounced Jeffrey Thomas Harless, 25, of New Bloomfield, dead at the scene at 10:55 p.m. Saturday from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Police said that a store employee arrived after an alarm sounded at 9:44 p.m. Saturday. The employee entered, confronted a man with a weapon and shot him in the ensuing confrontation, according to police. They said that no charges have been filed in connection with the fatal shooting, the midstate’s first of 2010.” (01/03/10)
