“A Morgan County commissioner says he will withdrawal his proposal urging the state to consider moving terrorism suspects from the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay to the recently closed Brushy Mountain prison. Commissioner Nick Bishop released a statement Saturday saying he lacked public support and will remove his proposal. The last inmates were taken out of the 113-year-old Brushy Mountain Correctional Complex in Petros on Thursday. Bishop had said bringing in those detainees would create jobs. The state still owns the prison, but correction department spokeswoman Dorinda Carter says it could be turned over to Morgan County for economic development.” [editor’s note: Once again, if those “detainees” are actually deemed guilty of anything, they should be indicted and tried in court; if not, they should be SET FREE, not just “detained elsewhere!” - SAT] (06/05/09) Link: http://tinyurl.com/o35kkk Filed under: CANDi News and RRND News | Report Bad Link Bookmark this post in Furl or Del.icio.us | |
