“Australia’s chief climate advisor Friday urged a 10 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 but conceded this may not save the country’s natural assets such as the Great Barrier Reef. In an assessment of the targets required to manage the harmful effects of air pollution on climate, Professor Ross Garnaut said Australia should cut its emissions by 10 percent of 2000 levels by 2020 and by 80 percent by 2050. This would be Australia’s share of the burden if international agreement was reached to limit carbon emissions in the atmosphere to a concentration of no more than 550 parts per million molecules, Garnaut said.” (09/05/08) Link: http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5j7DPOuH8Wy8sxm9N7znIsYoZOmEw Filed under: RRND News | Report Bad Link Bookmark this post in Furl or Del.icio.us | |
