“Leaders of two initiatives that would change the state’s employer-sanctions law said Monday that they will continue collecting signatures even though lawmakers approved a bill designed in part to keep the measures off the November ballot. Meanwhile, Gov. Janet Napolitano vetoed legislation that would have required local law enforcement to take a more active role in enforcing federal immigration law. She termed it an ‘unnecessary, unfunded mandate to law enforcement.’ Bill sponsor Rep. John Nelson of Litchfield Park shot back, calling the veto ‘a perfect example of Napolitano’s hypocrisy on immigration.’ It was all part of a flurry of action Monday as illegal immigration once again took center stage at the Capitol.” (04/29/08) Link: http://tinyurl.com/4x4ljx Filed under: CANDi News and PND News and RRND News | Report Bad Link Bookmark this post in Furl or Del.icio.us | |
