This week’s topic is gambling — or, more precisely, the relationship between rationality and gambling. Surprisingly, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of libertarian philosophical exploration of the subject, or if there is it’s buried in the search engines behind more politically oriented material. Is gambling a rational activity? CAN gambling be a rational activity? Paul Wakfer and I have been discussing the issue via email, since extracted into a couple of related articles: One over at Kn@ppster, and another right here on Rational Review. These should serve as a useful starting point. Weigh in with your opinion (and be prepared to defend it), or point your fellow readers at material you’ve found useful in considering the subject.
